Get myNMSU Information

The myNMSU portal is a secure site that provides NMSU students, faculty, and administrative staff with Intranet services. Using your NMSU ID and password you can check e-mail, maintain your calendar, view your pay stubs, and get the latest campus updates. These services are designed to keep you informed with NMSU events and announcements as well as providing personal services such as e-mail and a calendar. The myNMSU portal is different from www.nmsu.edu because it houses your personal information and can only be accessed by logging in with your myNMSU ID and password. The NMSU main page (www.nmsu.edu) gives you access to a specific college, other NMSU departments, financial aid services, student services and a variety of other options.

Activate Account

Activating your myNMSU account is very simple and takes only a few minutes.

myNMSU Account Activation:

  1. Open a browser session.
  2. Go to https://accounts.nmsu.edu/accounts/activation/.
  3. Enter your Social Security number and birth date.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Click the Accept button.
  6. Enter your NMSU Username.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Enter the information for the Secret Question
  9. Enter the secret answer and confirm your answer by retyping it in the next field.
  10. Click Continue.
  11. Enter your six digit PIN number and confirm by retyping the same number in the next field.
  12. Click Submit.
  13. Click the Activate myNMSU Account button to complete the process.

Update Your Personal Information

Below are step-by-step instructions on how to update your personal information at NMSU. Personal information by default is public information. If you would like to restrict this information, you can do so by going to the NMSU phonebook at www.nmsu.edu and clicking on Personal Preferences.

  1. Open an Internet browser and type http://my.nmsu.edu
  2. Enter your NMSU User Name and Password and click Log in.
  3. Click the Student and Financial Aid Tab.
  4. Click Banner Self-Service and select Personal Information from the dropdown menu.
  5. Check to see if your Address, Phone Numbers, Emergency Contact Information and Marital Status
    are current and accurate.
  6. If your address or phone number has changed, click Addresses and Phones. Then click Current.
  7. Enter your new Address or Phone Number and then click Submit at the bottom of the page.
  8. Click the Personal Information Tab at the top of the screen.
  9. To change your Emergency Contacts, click Update Emergency Contacts. Then click New
    Contact.
  10. Enter the contact information in the fields provided and then click Submit Changes at the bottom
    of the page.
  11. Click the Personal Information Tab at the top of the screen.
  12. If your marital status has changed, click Update Marital Status, select your marital status from the dropdown menu, and click Update Marital Status.

Forgot ID, Password, or PIN

If you forget your my NMSU ID, password, or PIN there is an easy way to fix this problem. The myNMSU portal allows you to reset your password online.

  • In order to reset your NMSU password, please use the "Forgot your password?" link at the following address: https://accounts.nmsu.edu/accounts/maintenance/forgot_pwd.php and answer your NMSU security question. After answering your NMSU security question you may set your NMSU password to a letter/number combination of your choice. Please note, once you regain access to myNMSU, you can always change your NMSU password with the "My Account" link located in the upper left corner of your myNMSU page.

  • If you forget your Login ID go to the myNMSU page https://my.nmsu.edu and navigate to the Secure Access Login box and click the link "Forgot your password." On the new page that appears, view the menu on the left select "Forgot your NMSU Username;" then follow the step-by-step instructions to get your NMSU login ID.

  • In order to reset your NMSU six digit, numeric PIN, please use your NMSU username and NMSU password with the "Reset your PIN" feature on the myNMSU page.

E-mail

The myNMSU portal is a secure site that provides NMSU students, faculty and administrative staff with e-mail services. Using your NMSU ID and password you can check e-mail, send documents, create an address book, set up e-mail folders and link to an outside e-mail account.

Event Calendars and NMSU Announcements

Once logged in to the myNMSU portal you have access to an event calendar that lists programs, activities, speeches and events at NMSU. NMSU administration can post announcements such as school cancellation or a reminders, such as the last date to drop classes with a "W." Both of these areas are helpful tools you can use to keep up-to-date on activities at NMSU.

Groups

The myNMSU system provides a Groups application that allows you to create and join online groups, as well as manage homepages dedicated to those groups. These homepages may be members-only areas or intended for general access, depending on whether the group is public or private.
