Security, Policies & GuidelinesNetwork Connection Policy – (Admin Council Approved)Purpose of policy: Connections of devices to the NMSU institutional network are controlled to prevent disruption of service or loss of institutional or personal data. Information & Communication Technologies is responsible for the design, installation, and operation of the institutional network. This network includes all voice video and data connections. All devices connected to the institutional network must conform to guidelines published in the ICT's Guidelines/Policies. Devices which do not comply, or which disrupt other network clients may be disconnected. To insure compliance with current policies and regulations, all network wiring, related components and installation must be approved by Information & Communication Technologies. Installations which are not in conformance with the guidelines are not authorized to be connected to the institutional network. Data Network Device Registration Entities (and devices belonging to entities) which connect to the New Mexico State University network (NMSU-Net) and are not governed by the Board of Regents of New Mexico State University (NMSU) shall be considered guest connections. The University reserves the right to impose a fee on any and all users, including guest connections, if required by either the ISPs or by action of the NMSU Administration. Advance notification will be given to those affected. |
