WWW Account Policy

Purpose of this policy: NMSU ICT provides web pages for colleges and departments and student organizations. This policy details the environment under which ICT and Web users operate.

The function of www.nmsu.edu is to provide colleges, departments and other official NMSU academic, business and operations entities a platform to provide information via the Web.

College and departmental web accounts provide information about the department as a whole and sub-functions of the department. Departmental accounts are not to be used to deliver course material. Staff and faculty who wish to publish personal information or course-related materials should consult with the Help Desk to determine the appropriate content platform .

Student Organizations

Accounts are allocated for ASNMSU-chartered student organizations only. If an organization should lose its charter, service and support for the account will be suspended until the organization renews the charter through Campus Activities.

CONTENT REVIEW/ACCOUNT INACTIVITY

The home pages of the organizations are visited on a frequent basis to ensure the information is current.

SECURITY

Account/Password Sharing

The number of people with access to a departmental account should be minimized. Only people related to the organization should have access.

DISK USAGE

Disk Space

Disk space is limited at 50 megabytes for college & departmental accounts and 20 megabytes for student organization accounts.
