This page provides a brief list of 'starter' commands for new list owners. See the List Owners Manual for a more (much more) comprehensive treatment of commands available for list management.

Adding a user The format of the command to add a user to your list is:

ADD list password address user-name

For example, for a list named "mylist" with an owner password of "lemon"

add mylist lemon jsmith@nmsu.edu John Smith

will subscribe John Smith to MyList with the address jsmith@nmsu.edu and John will receive a welcome message from ListProc.

Note: Multiple names may be placed on one line if enclosed in curley braces {}.

Getting Help You can send a 'help' command to Listproc to get a complete list of the owner-commands.

Subscribing To subscribe yourself to your listserv, use the following format:

SUBscribe list-name your-name

Deleting a user To delete a specified user from a list use the following format:

DELete list-name password user-address1 user-address2

Multiple names may be placed on ONE line if a space is placed between user addresses. If the optional "quiet" is added before the command line, the user will NOT be notified.

Leave the subject line blank; type the command in the body of the message.

E-mail requests to listproc@nmsu.edu

NOTE: You can put more than one command in an e-mail request, but each command should be on a separate line.
