License Agreements
Microsoft Academic Select Program
For purchasing licenses, contact ASAP: ASAP Subscription Website
New Mexico State University has enrolled as an affiliate
under the Microsoft Academic Select Agreement held
by the State of New Mexico. This entitles NMSU faculty
and staff to purchase Microsoft software licenses
and media for their individual NMSU-owned departmental
workstation computers and servers at prices substantially
lower than retail or other educational pricing. Most
Microsoft software applications are available through
this program. Unlike the Microsoft Campus Agreement,
this program allows you to purchase software licenses
and media by computer count and not by full-time
employee equivalent counts. You can purchase a license
for only one computer or up to as many as you need.
This program also allows you to purchase Microsoft
software for your servers and to purchase Software
Assurance (a one or two year maintenance program
that entitles you to upgrades and technical support).
All Microsoft Academic Select licenses must be purchased from ASAP Software. ASAP Software is the Microsoft Reseller that manages the Microsoft Academic Select contract for the State of New Mexico. You will find a link to the ASAP Software website here. You will be able to place your license and media orders on the ASAP Software website. Pricing information can also be found on the ASAP website.
This program allows you to purchase a software license on-line and then borrow the software media from the ICT/ISS department after showing proof of license purchase. You do not need to purchase software media from ASAP Software unless you would like a media set for your department to keep. By borrowing software from ICT/ISS, you will be able to install software the same day you order it.
The software check-out program is similar to all other software check-out programs available through ICT/ISS. You will need to show proof of license purchase and present an NMSU faculty/staff ID. We will keep your ID until you return the software.
In most cases the Microsoft Campus Agreement prices are lower. Examples of exceptions are: when a large department only needs to purchase a license or two of a particular product and does not need to license the entire department for that particular product OR when server products are needed. Evaluation of your situation will be necessary in order to know if the Microsoft Academic Select Program is right for your particular software purchase.
Work At Home Rights are granted for Microsoft Office software only. Work-At-Home Media must be purchased through ASAP Software for Work At Home. You cannot purchase licenses strictly for Home Use through this program. All licenses purchased through this program are perpetual licenses and are property of New Mexico State University.
