PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Microsoft Campus Agreement (MCA) allows use of the most popular Microsoft products on all computers owned by NMSU participating departments. Work at Home rightsare granted for all software products available through the agreement. ICT/ISS must have a copy of the User Acceptance Form on file for each faculty/staff/graduate assistant using these software products on home computers.

There are two types of software media available for the MCA program.

Office Install Media: Office Install Media Sets are available to check-out (borrow) for a period of three working days for installation on NMSU-owned computers within a participating department. Office Install Media that requires a Volume License Key for installation CANNOT be used for work at home installs on home computers. Office install media that does NOT require a volume license key for installation CAN be used for work at home installs on home computers. Office Install Media CANNOT be duplicated.

Work At Home Media: Work At Home Media is available for faculty, staff, and graduate assistants employed by participating departments to purchase for installation on their home computers. Work at Home Media for home installs is required for MCA software applications that require a Volume License Key for installation. These media sets are limited install CDs (limited to two installs) and cannot be duplicated.

Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, and all Office Suites all require volume license keys for installation and would require Work At Home Media for installation on home computers.

MCA software installed on participating department machines can be used by ALL NMSU faculty, staff, and students.

Participating departments must provide ICT with an NMSU account number and be charged each year for each full-time employee equivalent (FTE) in the participating department or college. The cost per FTE is calculated based on the Microsoft reseller price. The FTE counts for each department or college will be provided by the Institutional Research & Planning department and are based on the NMSU Human Resource Management System (HRMS).

All participating departments must sign-up for the Desktop Bundle which includes all Windows operating systems, all Office suites, and the CORE client access licenses (CALS). Other products are available as needed.

Please refer to the Software List (link above) for a complete list of available MCA software products and prices.

Software licenses for this program are leased on an annual basis. If your departmental license is not renewed, all MCA software must be removed from your departmental computers and employee home computers.

If a participating department employee terminates employment with the participating department, they must remove any MCA software installed on their home computers.
