Basic Telephone Service Features

Basic Telephone Service is provided at no extra cost in all residence halls except Student Family Housing.

The following features are included with basic telephone service:

VOICE MAIL

Voice Mail Service includes speed dialing, 3-way calling, on-campus call back, and call waiting.

CALL WAITING

Call Waiting is a feature that allows a second call to enter the line. The second call is identified by a soft tone.

TO SEND CALL WAITING ON CAMPUS

Hear busy signal; dial 5. If busy signal continues, called party does not have call waiting.

TO END PRESENT CALL AND ANSWER

Hang up; telephone will ring, answer.

TO HOLD PRESENT CALL AND ANSWER OR TO ALTERNATE BETWEEN CALLS

Dial 2; then begin talking.

TO RETURN TO HELD CALL-HANG UP

Hang up, (phone will ring), answer.

DATA PRIVACY

Data privacy allows call waiting to be turned off while transmitting data by modem, or for selected phone calls.

To Activate (Prior to each call)

Dial *41# and without hanging up dial number desired.

To Cancel: HANG UP (This feature is automatically canceled when you hang up).

AUTOMATIC CALL BACK

When dialing intracampus, if busy, dial 6, hang up. When the called number is available, the system will ring your telephone (interrupted fast ring). You must answer before the ringing stops (eight seconds). Lift the handset and the called number will be automatically dialed.

LAST NUMBER REDIAL

Lift the handset and dial ***. The last off campus number will be automatically dialed.
