Database Administration is a department of the Computer Systems Division within ICT. Our main focus is to maintain and operate the major database systems used by university software applications at New Mexico State University.
Campus-wide Software Licensing
Campus-wide Software Licensing tracks and manages large-scale site licenses so that NMSU associates and students can save money on key computer software, including Microsoft products.
Mainframe Systems Administration
Utilizing the Os390 and Vm operating systems, the Mainframe Server provides a high performance platform for running most of Nmsu's administrative application systems. These include student registration (Vistas), Personnel/Payroll (Hrms), Financial (Frs), Financial Aid (Sam), and many others.
Many Microsoft titles are available to the NMSU community at a reduced cost through our Campus Agreement with Microsoft.
The ICT project calendar shows scheduled work undertaken by various ICT departments.
ICT Services rents Windows XP systems on a semester and summer basis. All machines include a monitor, keyboard, mouse, modem or Ethernet card and 17" CRT or 15" Flat panel monitor.
PSS provides campus-wide hardware and software support for desktop computers, servers and workstations in the personal computer environment.
The Production Calendar is a monthly schedule of events, planned downtimes and job runs occurring on university systems and servers run by ICT.
Requesting Job Runs / Contacting Production Control
Jobs Runs for departments or staff can be requested by contacting the appropriate personnel in the University Computer Center.

Campus-wide Licensing Services offers office and productivity software to eligible New Mexico State University faculty, staff, students and departments.

Subsystems - Requesting subsytems
ICT will try to accommodate special request of subsystems depending on workload on personnel. Any request that requires extra personnel from UCC will be billed at the current hourly rate.
Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Backup Services
TSM is a client/server application that lets you back up and restore files from/to your computer over the network. This service is offered to members of the NMSU community and some affiliates through an annual contract.
University Systems as a division within ICT is responsible for providing administrative computing support to NMSU students, faculty, and staff.
ICT provides contractual work for departments on campus. This usually includes a system adminstrative relationship, where ICT services and maintains the department's machines. With a contract you get 24 hours a day, 7 days a week maintenance.
ICT uses the VM operating system to run Linux "guest" machines in the same manner as our Os390/Mvs system.
