What is ITAL?

ITAL is a short, nine-day institute over a period of three weeks that provides NMSU faculty with training and tools needed to integrate distributed learning technologies into traditional and distance education courses. Two sessions will be held this year. Each session is limited to ten faculty. The dates for these sessions are:

Session 1: June 10-12, 17-19, 24-26, 2008

Session 2: July 8-10, 15-17, 22-24, 2008

Deadline for applications is April 14, 2008.

In support of the growing interest in distance education at NMSU, two types of applications may be made for the upcoming sessions:

  • Program application - Application is made by a department that is planning to use distance education to offer a degree or certificate.  In this kind of application the program itself will be nominated, and several faculty from that department or program may be chosen. • Individual application – Application is made by an individual faculty member. Faculty may be affiliated with any NMSU campus. Use the online application at http://www.nmsu.edu/~training/individual.html

ITAL is sponsored by the College of Extended Learning, ICT Training ServicesLibrary, Media Technology and The Teaching Academy.

What does it cost?

Cost for a program applying is $500/seat.  Cost for individual application is $750.

How do I apply?

Application options are Program or Individual.

Program Applications - The program application is for departments intending to integrate distributed learning technologies into degree or certificate programs. As part of the application process, the departments will indicate the number of prospective faculty participants and the priority order in which they should be chosen. To apply as a program, refer to the program application instructions.

Individual Applications – The individual application is for faculty intending to integrate distributed learning technologies into their courses. To apply as an individual, use the online application form.
