Forwarding your NMSU E-mail
NMSU ICT provides e-mail service to the NMSU community of students, faculty and staff. The service includes automatic backups of mail stored on NMSU servers, support for secure protocols for sending and retrieving mail, and extensive spam-filtering.
An official NMSU e-mail address is required for all students, faculty and staff. The University will send official communications to your @nmsu.edu e-mail address, which is based upon the NMSU Username created when you activated your myNMSU account. You will receive e-mail at your @nmsu.edu e-mail address and should read e-mail on a frequent and consistent basis.
You may elect to redirect (auto-forward) e-mail sent to your @nmsu.edu e-mail address. However, if you redirect e-mail from your official University e-mail address to another address, you do so at your own risk. If you choose to have your @nmsu.edu e-mail forwarded, services such as automatic backups, support for secure protocols and spam filtering will not be available to you.
The following instructions will lead you through the process of activating the auto-forward function within your myNMSU account.
- Log in to myNMSU.
- Select the e-mail icon.
- Select the gray Options tab.
- In the Options menu select Auto Forward.
- Indicate where you want the e-mail to be forwarded.
- Select ok.
Your e-mail automatically forwards to the address you specified. E-mails will not be stored in your @nmsu.edu e-mail account.
