ITAL Program Application June 10-12, 17-19, 24-26 or July 8-10, 15-17, 22-24 Deadline: April 14, 2008
The program application is to be used only by departments that intend to offer a degree program through the distance education office. Instructions on how to complete a program application is described below.
Please note that this is a competitive process. A limited number of applications will be chosen based on the author's ability to thoroughly describe the relevance for attending the ITAL.
The application for individual faculty at http://www.nmsu.edu/~training/individual.html is intended to be used by faculty members who want to offer a course via distance education or to apply instructional technologies in classes they teach.
Participant cost for the distance education programs applying to ITAL is $500/seat. This amount covers tuition and contributes towards the cost of the equipment, software, and accessories that are loaned to faculty during the institute.
Details about the Institute for Technology Assisted Learning (ITAL) can be found on the ITAL Web page at http://www.nmsu.edu/~training/ital/ital_info.html. Deadline for applications is April 14, 2008 with announcement of ITAL awards expected April 21, 2008. For questions about ITAL, contact Robbie Grant at 646-3014 or e-mail rogrant@nmsu.edu.
Participant Responsibilities
Participants who have met all the following responsibilities will be provided with the laptop, accessories, and software used during the Institute, and ownership of this equipment will be transferred to their departments. Participants who do not meet the responsibilities will return the laptop, accessories and software; in addition, the application fee will be forfeited.
- Participants must not miss more than two
ITAL workshops (attendance is recorded at each workshop). Workshops are
defined as individual events on the calendar. There could be up to four
workshops on any given day.
- Participants will identify at least one course they will
restructure and teach using the instructional technology and pedagogy
learned during ITAL.
- Participants will develop and present a project that incorporates the technology and pedagogy learned during ITAL.
How to Submit An ITAL Program Proposal
Your program's proposal should be three to ten pages in length and should be submitted as an e-mail attachment to training@nmsu.edu in Word or HTML format. Acceptance to ITAL is a competitive process. Because there are always more applicants than there are slots available, each application will judged on the strength of its proposal. Each proposal should include:
- List of recommended participants from your program
Provide a list of the faculty members that are requesting ITAL slots. Include the course titles that they would be teaching in support of the distance education degree program, and their e-mail addresses and phone numbers. Please list them in priority order (e.g. those most interested in this type of instruction, those teaching DE courses soonest, etc.). If there are participants who are unable to attend during the session you have requested as your first choice, indicate who they are.
